But a newly-discovered diary of a Victorian landowner in rural Wales, written years ago, has revealed a vivid insight into a personal tale of promiscuity, addiction and loneliness. He was surprised by its bluntly honest revelations. Now the diary is the first joint publication by Carmarthenshire Antiquarian Society and Ceredigion Historical Society.
Historical notes about the Community of Llandysul Llandyssul Llandyssul is a small town and angling centre near confluence of Rivers Tweli and Teifi in the county of Ceredigion, once known as Cardiganshire. In the church is an inscribed stone possibly dating from the 6th century. A comunity like Llandysul usually formed around a village or other small settlement and used to be centred around the Parish Church.
In the late s Church and State separated but the same area is now represented as a local authority by the Llandysul Community Council and the Church by the Parochial Church Council. The Community Councils have many powers and some duties. The Good Councillors Guide. An example of a power is the one that allows the purchase and operation of street lighting. One duty requires the council to open the meetings to the press and public, with few exceptions. They manage local amenities in Llandysul and have a watching brief on local issues and their opinion is noted by those higher authorities in matters concerning them such as local planning issues.
